Well, I'll be damned.  What a perverse concept ... is it likely that
an older parallel port would be fully IEEE-xxxx conformant so you
could actually get performance?

(In hardware, my flavor is 10-year-old single malt....  Don't know
about the blends or the real vintage stuff ;-)
