[Sheflug] info on distros

Hi,

Does anyone know if a resource exists which details the differences between
different distros? The reason I ask is that, after discovering that the
computer I have RH6.2 on is incompatible with linux and particularly with
RedHat (lots of Error 11's when I try to compile a new kernel) and not being
in a financial position at the moment to buy a new motherboard or processor,
I have put SUSE 7.0 off the Linux Format CD on another old machine and would
like to try to get the Real Time application I want to use to operate on
this distro. I anticipate from other people's comments on the
application-specific email list that transferring to another distro involves
a lot of new ln -s's (the app is written specifically for a Red Hat
system), but, as far as I know, no one has yet tried it with SUSE. I assume
such a comparative list of 'what file is where in which distro' probably
must exist somewhere so developers can port their software to different
distros, but an initial search of the web hasn't tunred anything up.
