Re: [Sheflug] linux on an aging laptop (take2)

hi all.......

i've opted to copy my mandrake system over to the laptop......
i've got the file structure and files copied across ok
trouble is 'LILO'
when i try and install lilo, i get an error saying
'first boot sector doesn't have a valid lilo signature'
acording to the lilo doc's, i have mis typed something.........
i've double checked and all IS ok !

i booted the laptop with 'tomsrtbt' and mounted the hard drive partitions...
copied the files over.....
i tried copying LILO over but i cant run it! the error says the file doesn't exist even though it is listed by 'ls' ! (in fact i get this error when i try and run any of the apps i copied over)
the tomsrtbt lilo is V20, mandrake run V21.?......

there is (as far as i can see) two problems....

1)lilo versions are probably incompatible
2)apps on the hard drive will not run (they do have the correct permisions and are executable)

problem 1) can be solved when i figure out problem 2) i think!!!!

anyone got any idea's?
