Thats right.

Well, even with the nVidia drivers locking X, forcing a reset, and me
manually pressing it just to see what happens (on my main machine. I'm a
glutton for punishment!), I have yet to see a corrupt file. I even did it
while writing a file (a largeish tar) and the file was simply truncated to
the length it was before the reset. All already compressed files could be
retrieved without problem!
However, a fauly HDD (bad blocks, now in the bin) caused a few
problems. The writes caused some data loss. So, I rebooted to the rescue
disk, and ran the check program, with instruction to rebuild from the
transaction log. This took about 10 minutes, and all I lost was 10 lines
from a document I was writing. It even recreated the destroyed file. This
was about three months ago, so it was early days. A good sign!
Cheers,
Craig
