would have to join the multicast broadcast group 224.0.0.1 before any
multicast packets were forwarded to that machine. So I would guess NTL
either doesn't know they are doing this or have some particular use for
this that I can't figure out.

I wish him luck finding someone in tech support who has heard the letters
IGM and P all together. Most networking professionals know bugger all
about multicast.
