Well, as long as it has spell checking, code completion, syntax
highlighting, compiler tools built in, on the fly reformatting,
spreadsheet funct....

erm, how about edit text?

I use vi for config file hacking, emacs for programming and latex stuff,
and joe if I really can't be doing with vi (bad day at work, etc) When it
comes down to it, it's what ever suits the individual job best!
