Close:  "with pretensions to being an OS."

Actually, that's exactly the glory and folly of Emacs in a nutshell.

I'm serious about the text changing the world, though.  That's what
free software is all about.  (I wouldn't be surprised if the majority
was generated with vi-family editors, though :)  Peace? :)
