Just use a MUA that supports MIME properly, and configure it to prefer
text/plain to all else.

If you're worried about bandwidth, get an ISP that supports IMAP.

That said, I do recommend posting in text/plain; it is much cooler
than WYSIWYG wannabe HTML, and identifies you as one of the elite
whose words' content is more important than their formatting.  :-)
