Well, the fastest machine we have is a dual PIII 500, which is our server.
There's probably the odd 600MHz lying around, but most are 400MHz or slower.
Which is what I'm basing this on :) CPU speeds have rocketed in a year and a
bit thanks to AMD's Athlon to the point where CPU's have now finished playing
catch-up to software two-fold.
The question is how do you measure average speed: what's currently being
sold, or what's being used? I'm basing my assumption on the "use" argument.
If you go to the "for sale" then its probably 600/700Mhz ... which means a
year down the road 600/700 will be average "in use".
