"Artistic" use? I expect that you're likely to see most, if not all
digital cameras, fall by the wayside when compared to my conventional
35mm gear when trying to get a 12x16 print to go on a wall somewhere -
which is where my good shots end up. The web just happens to be another
place that I can get the shots.
About the only place I can really see for a digital camera is
photojournalistic use where the picture needs to get from real life to
the front page ASAP, and still have reasonable quality at the sizes
involved.
Saying that, the shot of my admittedly ugly mug on my website was taken
from 300 plus feet away by a friend with a 600/4 and a teleconverter -
not something even the special digital cameras are able to do :-)
