[Sheflug] Evolution

Just in case people are interested...

I upgraded to Evolution release 0.8 today, having being using (urm, somwhat,
anyway) 0.6. I have to say it's a heck of a lot better. 0.6 had real
issues - i.e., I couldn't compose mail in it, among other things (the
compose bit segfaulted). 0.8 doesn't seem to add a great deal of features,
but it seems much more finished. I had a couple of dependency problems on
install - it doesn't seem to like having bonobo-devel on the machine at the
same time (old bonobo-devel, though, I daresay had I Helix-updated to
Evolution-0.8-devel all would have been well), but it only took a couple of
minutes to sort.

BTW, I've done this on both my work machine (RedHat 6.2+) and my laptop
(deb-stable), and it worked equally well. Debian users aren't in the cold
for once, although maybe if you're tracking unstable (you fools ;) ymmv as
per usual ! I also have RedHat 5.2 running in vmware on my work machine
(long story - don't ask), might try it on there too ;)) Since I'm the only
person running Helix at work I'm getting a little bit of interest in it from
others - it's not ready for prime time, and won't be for months, but looks
like it might give Outlook a run for it's money, at last..

Cheers,

Alex.
