Paul said something like this to me on Thursday night. Wasn't quite
sure what to make of it. I compiled KDE 1.94 and 2.0 from source on
my SuSE 6.4 machine. Worked fine. Then, I tried the Linux Emporium
CDs which are known to work every time without problems. That version
of KDE 2 for SuSE 6.4 refuses to work on my box. And, if I do get KDE
2 to work I find that it takes over the whole desktop. Something that
I don't want. SuSE 7.0 provides another kettle of fish once again
where KDE 2 does work but with varying success.
My own explanation would be that it's *probably* better to stay away
from KDE 2 just now but do come back to it in a month or two.
Thanks
