[Sheflug] CD-ROM problem.

I have been installing Quake 2 today and eventually got it working
under Mesa and Glide - it works better than on windows, but I did run
into a small problem. That is to say the transfer rate from cdrom to
hard drive was small. Very small. I presumably have a 32 speed drive
(Creative) just as the boot up messages say, but I would expect a
180MB file to copy in far far less than 2 hrs. I approximated the
transfer of data at about 24 kb/s. I havent a clue what to do. Can
anyone help please?
