It was even funnier b'cos the 'recent security problems' have been
mainly wu-ftp and lpd, neither of which look like 'linux' to me...

150'000UKP bottom price for a Windows 2000 DataCenter - that's pretty
enterprise...

NTFS journals in 2000 doesn't it? At least to the extent of metadata,
I'm sure.

Well, the Win9X stack was nicked from BSD, so that's pretty solid, I
similarly can't imagine the NT one being flakey. I've never had problems
with it. I know they're not necessarily as secure as Linux's (I think
they're easier to spoof or something), but they're not unstable AFAIK.

The task manager. I'm also not convinced it's computationally expensive
either. Ever seen the ASP engine in IIS? *That's* computationally
expensive....
It's not that Windows (NT or 2000) is particularly bad; it's just not
better than Linux. In my experience, it's less reliable than Linux, and
is generally harder to tune, but it does the job. The stuff that sucks
particularly hard on Windows is stuff like IIS and Exchange, which are
actually quite hard to use. I'd much rather learn stuff like sendmail,
bind, et al., because it genuinely seems easier to me. But, there we go.
Cheers,
Alex.
