How odd. I was using SuSE 7.0 too. Perhaps it has something to do with it? Ask SuSE, they'll probably tell you of any faults that they know of.

Hmmm.. I'm pretty sure it worked previously, before my system barfed and I 
totally rebuilt it replacing Mandrake 6.0 with SuSE 7.0 (not that I'm 
suggesting SuSE has anything to do with it y'understand) 

I'll probably do as Guennadi suggests and stick it in /etc/rc.d/boot.local
