Okay...
lsmod shows parport is running. As I said in my last mail (which
crossed with this one) I've stopped loading it at boot and started
insmodding it by hand. You can't 'insmod paride' without it.
However /proc/sys/dev/parport doesn't exist on my system. Should I do
something like 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/dev/parport' - or is it a case of
passing parameters (what parameters?) to parport when I insmod it, or
is it altogether more complex than that?
In fact the whole directory /proc/sys/dev/ is empty on my system.
But, hell, other devices work, so I'm not going to lose too much
sleep!
Cheers,
James
