Yep, sure, no rush. My "fingers won't freeze and arms won't fall off" from
typing 'modprobe cs4232' when I want to listen to the radio over my 28.8K
modem (sounds like a masochism:-)) But - yesterday I observed a strange
phenomenon: I decided to make insmod (to which modprobe is just a
symlink) setuid root, and so I did. And when I then tried modprobe cs4232
as a usual user modprobe segfaulted beautifully... lsmod showed cs4232
stuck in '(initializing)' stage, so all attempts to remove / reload it and
related sound modules failed! Is there a solution to such a problem apart
from 'complete reboot'? But today when I tried to reproduce this -
modprobe worked out without any problem at all... Anybody ever seen
anything like this? Isn't making modprobe (insmod) setuid root a bad idea
overall?
Cheers
