Q1) You fetch it and then do what with it? You are running it through your
MTA? Yes?
Q2) you wouldn't be dropping it in the outbox on your local machine would
you?

Q1- yes
Q2- yes

i use "sendmail -oem %F %T" to deal with local mail delivery from within
fetchmail.

thanks to Craig, i have been able to prove that the mail is going straight
to /var/spool/mqueue as well as the local mailbox's.

i must admit that i have very liitle knowledge of sendmail config(but i
geuss you knew that ;-) the config file i am using was straight out of a
help page(i forget who's) that setup sendmail for offline creation and
scheduled sending of mail to a dial-up ISP account. i would like to think
that the help page info was correct, the only explanation i can think of is
that i am now running a much newer version of fetchmail and sendmail. this
may account for it not behaving quite as it should.

does someone know which command within the sendmail.cf file is responsible
for this error?

thanks
ross
