Oh, but I agree with Craig - the issue isn't only the fact that
configuring a dialup connection could be a nightmare (BTW, I looked at
RedHat's dial up config program and it's as easy to use as the Windoze
"Connection Wizard" thingy - stick the number and your user/pass and
yer off) - it's that Linux is expected to support broken/crippled
hardware like Win "Modems".

What is the situation with Macs and modems? Not all of them come with
them built in do they (guessing) - and I'm sure if not then Mac users
don't rush out to buy WinModems?

I think it's fairly safe to say that (certainly with RedHat, and
probably SuSE and Mandrake) dialups and the sort are dealt with
painlessly.
