I should think that's an understatement :)
However, it's a fact that most of us here in Sheffield and a lot of
people elsewhere in the UK will have to use dialup for a long time to
come.
As long as BT remain as incompetent as they really are then dialup
will be with us. Cable isn't an option here in Sheffield because the
contractors who fit the cable have traditionally destroyed the
pavements thus costing the local council and tax payer millions of
pounds.
If only they could manage Railtrick for us ? Then we *would_have* a
proper rail system <goes to MS_SuperSarcasticMode=on> So, any optimism
in the dialup department can be forgotten about.
The fact that most of the programmers I've seen don't have
any practical idea of how to do anything doesn't help either. Common
sense is in the minority as far as those people are concerned. At
least within the UK it is.
