yes, in a word!!
VNC provides both a server - vncserver, which interfaces with whatever GUI is
running, be it X, Windows, whatever, and on the far end the client is the vnc
viewer.
So, start vncserver (having set up passwords) with the wrapper script which
finds a free display and attaches itself to it, then start the client on the
far end & point it at the right display.
It really is good, give it a go...... btw you can run both client & server on
one machine, so you can look at a second display from hte first, for
instance, without having to crtl-alt-f8 or whatever.
