Typical engineer has a couple of weeks training. See Windows box, look
industrious. See Linux box, look scared, hide behind sofa.

The reason they give for not supporting Linux is "our tech support people
can't do Linux". So what's the worst case? You ring up, operator says
"Sorry, can't help." You've wasted 10p on a phone call.

Either that or "compatibility". They fear that a Linux box might to
something strange and frightening to their network. Surely if Linux is
such a tidy DoS attack they need to seriously review their network
security...

It is my guess the real reason is Linux is a "new" thing.
Typically this makes managers scared, and their first reaction is to deny
it even exists so they may sleep at night.
