Did I say you needed a phone line? Where has this come from?

No. But why not test *your* hardware rather than his own? Two reasons why
this is a good thing...
	1. For *most* customers, they get a machine setup and configured
and can get online straight away without having to mess
		about.
	2. For Telewest, it means they can have a job signed of as tested
successfully, giving *most* customers peace of mind, and
Telewest less chance of legal action being taken should
something not work 5 mins after the engineer's left.

Not been following it - I have no intention of getting ADSL in the near
future. But look at the package as a whole - BT won't sell you a modem as its
part of an overall package, so you rent it. Blue Yonder is the same - you
rent the CM. Looking in other areas...you don't actually own your OnDigital
box (if you have one) - if you unsubscribe from OnDigital, they'll take the
box back. Telewest's normal TV package - you don't own the box.

It's starting to become a common theme in telecoms services...you don't need
to buy anything as they'll provide all the kit. Probably all for different
reasons...some good, some bad...
