edit /etc/inittab - On line 23 of my Slackware 7.0 installation you have
id:4:initdefault:
This tells init to use runlevel 4 as default - this uses an X window
system graphical login. Change the 4 to a 3 & reboot and the system will
boot to text-based login.
Slackware's runlevels are
0 Halt
1 Single user
2 Not used
3 Multi user + text based console
4 Multi user + graphical login
5 Not used
6 Reboot
So, typing 'shutdown -h now' is the same as 'init 0' (less keypresses,
bonus!) or 'init 6' instead of Ctrl-Alt-Del. Try 'man init' & 'man
inittab' for more information.
