[Sheflug] NIS Design & Debugging

Hi All,

At the moment we're running an NIS server at Access Space, so our
users can have a single place to store files and a single Desktop
wherever they sit. The catch is, we set it up last year, and we
aren't really confident that we've set it up in a sensible way. (The
words "buggy as hell" spring to mind...!) At the time the crew who
set it up weren't demons for documentation. (Much of it was in the
head of one of the team who's subsequently moved on to bigger and
better things...)

Does anyone fancy helping us down at Access Space for a couple of
afternoons? If you're experienced with NIS we'd like to hear from you
- either for some basic network design advice, or for some practical
configuration help, or maybe, <gasp> even a bit of debugging.

Either way we'd really like to have a coffee (or tea!) and discuss
whether we can improve our NIS provision. We can't promise any cash
beyond expenses - we're Access Space is a strapped-for-cash nonprofit
project - but we're nice people and we write fine references for
people who help!

Cheers,

James
