[Sheflug] Re: PNP OS

If enabled, it lets the OS take over resource allocation. Otherwise, it
allocates what resources it can and passes control to the OS.

In the days of DOS, this was useful because you could get the BIOS to set up
your soundcard, and not have to be bothered with one of those daft PNP setup
utils in AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Never did work though.

I'm told that you should leave it disabled for Linux use, but further
private investigation seems to show no difference once the kernel has taken
hold.

just my 2p

What does this BIOS setting do?

If anyone has had IRQ related problems with recent VIA chipsets I would be
interested in comparing notes.
