[Sheflug] Screen resolution

Hi,

Is there a file in the Linux system which keeps a note of the current screen
resolution? I need to make a tcl/Tk script display a window which will use
the most screen area for any particular resolution. If I could pick up a
variable from somewhere that tells me what the screen res is set to, I could
use that to change variables in the program.
