[Sheflug] Re: iso file system

I don't know how Mandrake works, but on SuSE you can choose to install from a reachable directory. Also, you get a terminal. logged in as root, with mount available. If this is the case, you can then copy all the files to a directory on your FAT partition, mount it, and install from there.

Mandrake may not like this, though, as it designed for 'ease of use'. SuSE is more of a experienced users option. But, if you can somehow get a boot/root disk to mount a directory as the source of packages, it should work.

If in doubt, and you want something with which you are in control, use Debian! The one true way (or slackware, if you're 'that way' inclined ;-)

it's a bootable cdrom iso.
i don't have enough space for the iso's on a seporate partition (3 cd's
worth!... thats modern distro's for you)
can i leave them on my vfat partition and boot from the sub directory where
they are stored? or does it need a preformated partition with a special file
system?
