[Sheflug] Abiword

Hello all.

Does anyone use Abiword, and if so, have you managed to install a British
dictionary for it, to replace the default American one?

I can't get it to recognise a British dictionary. The FAQs say that all it
needs is for the American.hash file to be replaced with a British.hash file.
But it doesn't work. If I do that, I get an error message saying that it
can't find the American.hash file. If I rename the British.hash to
American.hash, I get a "magic2" error message.

I have been trying Abiword for the past few weeks and think it is a very good
word processor, except for the spell checking. I know that I shouldn't need
one, but I hate sending anything out with spelling errors.

I have asked on the Abiword list, but the only answer I got was to use
PSpell, and compile that from source. Should not the file replacement method
stated in the FAQ work?

Many thanks for any advice.

Keith
