check your /usr/include/linux, if it a link (soft or hard) to
/usr/src/linux/include/linux (which IS usually the case), then it (the
latter directory) should not be touched and should contain headers,
against which your libc was compiled (whatever kernel you happen to be
running at the moment). So, all your development kernels should be kept
elsewhere. They say now it's better to keep them in your home dir
(e.g. ${HOME}/usr/src/kernel/linux-x.y.z), so that you don't have to be
root while you are playing with your kernels, but only when you copy the
kernel, do modules_install, modify your lilo.conf, run lilo etc.
