Ah, not suitable for general butchering, then.

Although I am not an expert on Compaq kit, I have never seen any machine
need a key to get into it before. It could be a simple device, but if it
requires even a specific type of key, and you can't scrounge one from a
second hand computer dealer (SCS?) I would say youre stuck unless you don't
mind a) picking the lock or b) ripping it off.

However, just crossing my mind is a pile of keys in a cupboard in our
factory. One of those might suffice? It's a long shot, but hey, what yer
gonna do?

Well, it's 'almost' like those locks, only, IIRC, it wants a flat
key... I'm not that bothered what the machine looks like, but I want to be
able to return it within next few days in case something is ABSOLUTELY
wrong with it and I want to test it (and therefore open the cover) within
these few days...
