Ok, just to make absolutely sure, you do the following:
you are sitting at machine A. On A you do
xhost +B
telnet B
then on B
export DISPLAY=<A_ip>:0.0
(if running bash on B)
xterm &
and expecting an xterm (or whatever other application) window to appear on
A. Are you waiting long enough? What does B say to xterm &? What
application are you trying? If you are trying something like StarOffice or
Netscape, try xterm first - it should get to you faster. If you still
don't get it... Well, maybe some firewall settings or hosts.deny? But here
I can't help, sorry. Others will know better. BTW, isn't B behind a
firewall?
