Maybe it is, but due to my extreme laziness:

[will@dogfox will]$ ls -l /boot/System.map
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           21 Jun 25  2000 /boot/System.map
-> System.map-2.2.14-5.0
[will@dogfox will]$ uname -r
2.4.4

Oh well.
