How do you mean it doesn't appear in the file manager? Do you mean there
is no mount point, like /cdrom or whatever?
If so, you need to make a directory (as root) where you want it to be, eg
/zip or /mnt/zip (I have mine on /zip)
Then, edit /etc/fstab, and enter the following line:
/dev/hdc4 /zip auto noauto,user 0 0
assuming that the zip is hdc. Notice partition 4? I don't know why, but
Iomega thought this was a good idea :)
Anyway, go back into file manager (gmc, I presume) and the mount point
will be there. I don't use gmc (I use gnome, but uninstalled gmc as it
make desktop icons. Yuck), so I don't know if icons appear for mounting or
what, but hopefully this should help
