Yes - run xhost as the user who owns the X session (ie, before you su). A 
"better" way is to get to grips with xauth, but I can't remember enough about 
it to give any more details about it. And since a disk crash I've lost all my 
config to refer back to.

Chris...who thinks Debian maybe going to the land of /dev/null and
	replaced by Slack on his box...
