Solaris uses the hostname.<interface> files to also configure the IP of 
each card by using the name assigned to the card and looking it up in 
/etc/hosts. Sounds messy? But it keeps the IP of the machine configured in 
one place only, which can't be a bad thing.

hme0 is the fast ethernet device in solaris. le0 is the older 10Mb line. If 
it's like Digital UNIX, the interface name'll vary with the driver for the 
interface. For example, Lance Ethernet cards on DU are lnX, whilst 
Tulip-based cards are tuX, etc...
