RE: [Sheflug] Squid Web Cache

People are using win 98 / ie 5.5 to connect to the internet via a Linux box
doing routing / firewalling ip masquerade etc connected to a cable modem +
the internet.

I would like to be able to control access to the internet (or at least make
people think about being accountable for what happens when they surf) by
using a password and username. Reading the Squid .conf file it mentions
things like ident servers. Sounds a bit complex. I was hoping i could
create users on the linux box - rod, jane , freddy - add them to a group
called - InternetUsers - and have a line in squid.conf that said http_access
allow InternetUsers - When they go to the web they get a popupbox and have
to type in a username + password before surfing off.
Or something like that!

We're doing just that with it. What do you want to know?
