Nah. Don't need any of that rubbish!

We've got a PERL script that authenticates users against a file we created
with a user name and password (I called it /etc/squidusers). I also put a
"user type" field in so we could shut people out of the Internet (but not
the Intranet) if it was outside a certain time. The PERL script goes in the
'authenticate_program' tag (or whatever). If you can wait a couple of hours
(while I get home 'cos I'm in the office ATM and I prepared all the stuff at
home JIC you wanted more information), I'll send you the PERL script that we
use.

The other advantage is that with roaming users, SQUID puts the authenticated
userid in the log file so you can always tell who's been getting at what!
