[Sheflug] Backup Mail Hosts
Hi all
I am after some recommendations for back up mail hosts. I run my own mail
server on the end of a BY HSI link but need some form of backup. Ideally a
pop3 supplier that I can set a lower priority MX entry for, or someone that
will just hold mail until my server comes back on line, this could be more
tricky as my IP address can change.
On a side topic of DNS
If I set my DNS with my ISP (who hold the domain records) to this
mx entry for scfnet.co.uk points to mail.scfnet.dyndns.org
and then have a cname record with dyndns to point mail.scfnet.dyndns to my
servers IP address this will work will it not.
The idea is then if my IP address changes then I only have to update the
dyndns record to redirect any mail. The ISP refresh time is 24hrs where as
dyndns is only 5-10 mins.
Hope I have made this clear, if not feel free to complain
Alastair
