We've had this discussion before, and I won't pretend that 2.4 is
as stable as 2.2 - IIRC Alan Cox has mentioned he doesn't expect that
until next year, but I can't believe that 2.4 is so bad that it kills
boxen every day or 2.

I've run most 2.4.x kernels, including -test, -pre, -ac and Redhat
vendor versions, and have not had my system go down.

Admittedly I hardly stress my system that much, however I have run
Oracle 8i, and stress tested that on early 2.4 without bother...

I'm running fairly boring hardware: BX chipset, dual PIIs, Promise
ATA-100 controller, Soundblaster AWE64, 3Com 509 NIC.

Cheers.

Baz.
