Yes

It may be the boot order that needs changing but I cannot get into the BIOS
because it uses the strange
Compaq configuration software that has to be installed on the hard disk. I
cannot boot from the floppy either, I
think it has been disabled because the machine was being used as a server.

I have had a response from David Bottrill off the list and he is going to send
me a Compaq SmartStart CD that
installs all of the configuration software onto a small boot partition on the
hard disk.So once I have the disk
I should be able to get the boot from hard hisk and floppy working again.

The other thing that David told me is that on of his machines the SUSE 7.2 Yast2
install did not mark the /boot partition as active and he had to use a Win98
boot disk and Fdisk to set the active partition.

>ps: can u be James 2 please? or do i have to be James 2.

You can be James 1 I will be James 2

Thanks

James 2
