i agree. The only thing that can cause your breaker to trip is faulty wiring
or equipment, or too many devices on the ring (overloading the circuit). If
the combined current drawn by the devices is more than 32 amps it will trip. A
power surge from outside the ring can not cause this.

should be 2.5mm 3-core cable with a 32amp breaker for a socket ring.

if there is a 16amp breaker on a socket ring, which can sometimes be done by
mistake (i.e the sparky not paying attention) it should be replaced with a
32amp.
