Certainly with SuSE7.2, you're better off installing PHP from the
distribution CDs. If you do that, it also makes the necessary changes in
/etc/httpd/httpd.conf.suse (or whatever) which is included into httpd.conf
to configure the additional module load commands. YaST also changes
/etc/rc.d/apache to set the appropriate environment variable to load PHP. I
would imagine 7.0 is a similar mechanism?
This may of course be of no help whatsoever, in which case, I'll go and
stick my head in a bucket...
