[Sheflug] Modem cutting out

I've finally gotten online up here, and I've got a small problem. The modem
I use, which worked perfectly alright back home, now seems to keep cutting
out for about a minute or so every now and then. By this I simply mean that
it doesn't send or recieve any data for that time. Then, it just goes back
to normal all of a sudden. It's starting to be a real pain because it I
can't actually download anything of a decent size due to the fact that when
it happens it loses the connection to the remote server.

I'm running kernel 2.2.14-5.0(Straight out of redhat 6.0 but recompilled),
with pppd 2.3.11 and connecting using wvdial. Anyone any ideas what's wrong?
