You are using the framebuffer driver, which requires you have the 3dfx
framebuffer driver built into your kernel.
I would reccomend the "tdfx" driver instead, it's faster and more capable, as
well as doing 3D.
Basically grep /etc/X11/XF86Config for "fbdevhw" and replace the line:
Driver "fbdevhw"
with
Driver "tdfx"
NB: For hardware 3D you need a kernel with the 3dfx DRI module built.
