[Sheflug] Mandrake 8.1

Just to say I now have Mandrake 8.1 running - and *very* nice it is too!

Apache up and running - this time with PHP4 and SSI's working. Telnetd
working, FTPd working and even Samba now enabling me to work with my files
from my other computer(s). Wonderful!

Some of the configuration options have changed since 8.0, which confused me
for a while until I went 'hunting'. (Why /are/ there so many different
'control centres'?!? - if I had a criticism at all, it would be that the
config/control tools need rationalising into a centralised resource - but
that's just me being picky!)

The complete install took a whopping great 22 minutes ;-) - slightly better
than Win98's Hour-and-a-quarter!

Konqueror browser is /much/ improved since the last version (it's now quite
useable!), and this distro now includes GIMP, which I believe was missing
from Mandrake 8.0.

IMHO this distro goes a _long_way_ toward making Linux a user-friendly OS.

Overall score = 9/10  :-)
