[Sheflug] Partitioning
Greetings all
I am thinking of buying a larger hard drive to replace the one I am using at
the present for Linux. It will be either a 20GB or a 30GB one, and will only
contain Linux.
Please can I have some guidance on the size and number of partions I should
create? The SuSE manual doesn't cover partitioning such large hard drives.
I have 256MB of memory and I understand that I should have a swap partion
twice this size. At the moment I have /boot, swap, / and /home partitions.
Should I also have /user or other partitions?
There is only me who uses the computer, so there will only be one user. I
can't install this present old drive in the computer as part of the
partitioning, as I have two drives on caddies. One is for Linux, and the
other is for "another OS" which I still have to use very occasionally.
Many thanks for any advice.
Best wishes
Keith
