[Sheflug] proftpd.conf
Hi All,
I've just set up an Apache box down at Access Space for Perl
experimentation. It's running proftpd as its FTP server, but I'm
having trouble configuring the FTP server so we can upload to it.
I could do it myself by reading the manual and scratching my head a
lot, but I reckon I'd spend loads of time worrying that there's some
kind of security hole I've left because I don't understand the config
file properly. I'm sure that at least one of you must have configured
proftpd for a multiuser system before and could come down and help me
sort it out in twenty minutes...
At the moment I'm using the basic.conf which I've renamed
/etc/proftpd.conf just like it says in the manual. I've stopped and
restarted proftpd in order to get it to pay attention to the config
file. The docs say that basic.conf should allow read-only anonymous
FTP access to /var/ftp/ (I think) but... it doesn't. I can't log on
anonymously at all.
Any suggestions? Or better yet, offers to come down and help out!
I'll ply you with free coffee and you may even lever some biscuits
out of us as well!
Cheers,
James
