gcc 3.0.2 works fine here (C99, K7 architecture). g77 is doing
alright as well. As for glibc2.4, you might want to have a look at glibc
2.2.4. The former is still a long way in coming. On the benefits of the
latter, I run it, and no problems so far. However, I am yet to use
something that wasn't available on libc5 myself :-) (Yes, I do use
printf and little else, don't I? :D).
