This was exactly the argument that was related to me by an employee 
of DCS at Sheffield Uni back in 1996.  He was fairly certain that an 
office secretary was going to be telling him how to do his job and 
because of that he left.  He was pretty much into Linux and BSD.  
Shame that no one listened to him.  I suppose that Shef U will now 
reap the benefit of lack of planning and further investment in high 
cost software will rocket through the clouds above us.

When I was at the University I had an interest in molecular modelling 
in MS Windows. Then I began to realise that something was wrong 
somewhere.  So, I dropped that in the bin as well.  The software that 
is.  Since then (1995-6) I've found out through my contacts at 
various scientific institutions that due to lack of planning the 
world of science and engineering itself is now being told that if it 
doesn't use MS Windows then it officially doesn't exist.

I'm supposed to believe that an office secretary will tell me how to 
build the space station of tomorrow ?  And .. future Mars missions ?
